The Norse god of thieves and of magic appears as an unusual guest at a medieval ale-hall. Under the influence of too much mead, he reveals how he discovered the mystic Runes and lets slip the secrets of their fashioning and their powers. A poet listens raptly, recording the god’s drunken tales.
